Dental crowns are strong and reliable restorations, but they still need to be taken care of. If you do everything you can to keep the crown in tip-top shape, it will last for years to come and you will have the beautiful and functional smile you have always wanted. So, to help you care for your dental crown, we recommend doing the following things:
· Brush: Brush your teeth every morning and every night to eliminate the harmful bacteria and plaque that threaten to destroy your dental crown and your smile. As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. We also encourage you to brush for two minutes each time for an effective cleaning job.
· Floss: Floss your smile at least once a day with a flossing product of your choice. Flossing will free the food particles that are stuck between your teeth and against your dental crown. If these particles don’t get freed, there is a high chance you will become a victim of tooth decay.
· Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with a beneficial mouthwash, whether it’s antibacterial or fluoride wash. Rinsing your mouth will complete the cleaning job and will keep your crown in great condition. All you need to do is follow the instructions on the bottle for the best results.
· Visit your dentist: Visit your dentist every six months for a professional dental cleaning and exam. These appointments will help you prevent tooth decay, gum disease, and other dental problems. They will also give your dentist the chance to examine your dental crown and make any necessary fixes.
