Toothpaste is a handy tool you need to properly and effectively clean your smile. Without it, your toothbrush wouldn’t be as effective in helping you have the top-notch oral health you deserve. To help you know a little more about toothpaste, our dentist, Dr. Drs. Nichols and Cicmanec, is happy to share some toothpaste facts. Those facts are:

-It’s best to use fluoride toothpaste. This is because fluoride strengthens the tooth enamel and helps it fight bacteria.

-Whitening and tartar-control toothpaste can irritate your gums if they are extremely sensitive. Using these pastes can increase gum recession and promote tooth sensitivity.

-It’s best to avoid rinsing immediately after brushing. Letting the toothpaste soak into the enamel gives the enamel time to toughen up.

-Children shouldn’t use the same toothpaste as adults. In fact, they should use non-fluoride, children’s toothpaste until they are at least 3 years old.

-The first toothpaste recipe was written by an Egyptian scribe back in the 4th Century AD.
